Two Figured Pearwood Guitars
Pearwood has a long history in the making of musical instruments and I have had two beautiful, figured sets slowly aging for years. In the first guitar I was striving for a very contemporary look by combining the pearwood with a center panel of stark white holly and a beautiful top of Swiss spruce that picks up the color tones of the pearwood. A graphic black and white rosette design reinforces this aesthetic. I also developed a zero fret that sits in a pocket to help afford more adjustability in the action at the first fret. The second guitar has the same center panel but the wood I chose was Amara ebony which along with the rosette design gives the guitar a decidedly more traditional look. If I had to compare how the pearwood colors the sound of the guitars to another more traditional tonewood, I believe it would be that of European maple. Please note video at the bottom of this page!
