European Spruce / Afrormosia
Most of us makers agree that there are many woods out there that will make wonderful guitars. I acquired this Afrormosia wood years ago and built a number of fine pieces of furniture from it. The wood is harvested on the Ivory Coast of Africa which includes Ghana, Zaire and Nigeria. I loved that it was well quartered and had this somewhat rare butterscotch color that deepens over time. I would say that its hardness falls somewhere in between East Indian rosewood and European maple. It made a fabulous guitar, light in weight with a quick response. It is well balanced with both rich basses and clear ringing trebles. A simplified binding scheme allows me to offer this guitar with a hardshell case for $4500.00.
